JetBlue U is there to support the operation and not here for “JetBlue U’. It compares their secret of success to the catch phrase ‘aligning training with the business units.’ One of the big challenges the training department has when creating the corporate university is creating a university setting with the right acceptance by business unit leaders. Business unit leaders trust the corporate university to produce a student, worker or crew member who will be effective out in the operation, so it really talks to the notion of exceptional alignment between the business unit and what is done at the corporate university
Just being flexible has opened many doors when it comes to evolving JetBlue U from a training function to a performance support organization at JetBlue. In order to truly be successful in running a corporate university, one needs to be confident and comfortable enough to sit with a business leader and say,
“The second you don’t think this is working for you, we need to sit down and talk about it. If it does not work for you, it cannot work for me because we are here for you.”
“I’m grateful to be in this network. The calls I had with other members gave me the information I needed to move my project forward.”

“We were able to realize almost immediate value—in terms of definitively quantifiable savings—by implementing the concepts introduced during this [Art of Negotiation] program.”

“In my particular case, I certainly care about the HR functions, but that’s not why I wake up every day. I care about advancing the ball down the field with our people’s professional development skills and knowledge. You guys focus 100% on the learning piece, and that’s what I like.”
