Here are this past week's headlines in learning excellence:
Women -- the next global talent pool
Without enough "brain power," multinationals can't succeed in emerging markets. Yet they're approaching the war in the wrong way—bringing in expats and engaging in bidding wars for hotshot local "male" managers. The solution is hiding in plain sight: the millions of highly educated women surging into the labor markets of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and the United Arab Emirates. Measuring HR's effect on business
HR leaders primarily face two challenges: how to measure business metrics (not HR metrics) and how to align HR with business goals. Knowledge Infusion’s CEO suggests HR leaders to ask questions such as "what is the organization trying to achieve?" and "what will work in our organization?" Feedback in the moment
If you think that the only opportunity to give or get feedback on job performance is the annual review session, you are missing many chances to help your employees improve and your business grows throughout the year-suggests The W. P. Carey School of Business’ professor Minu Ipe. Read the review "Giving and Receiving Feedback: Seize the Moment"!
Enhancing multicultural communication
There are many ways that a culture may differ in the way people communicate among themselves and how they perceive each other’s actions. To help business practitioners navigate their way through this brave new multicultural world, Luciara Nardon (Sprott School of Business), Richard M. Steers (Lundquist College of Business) and Carlos Sánchez-Runde (IESE) have coauthored the paper, "Seeking Common Ground: Strategies for Enhancing Multicultural Communication,"
Mindjet, the developer of an information mapping tool MindManager, announced a new online workspace product called Connect and the acquisition of social task management provider CoHuman. These two developments give Mindjet a complete end-to-end team communication and collaboration solution – from project design through project management and document sharing to completion.
